Supervisors approve regional cooperative agreement for mobile overdose response unit

County staff presented a cooperative agreement between Surry County, Prince George County, Dinwiddie County and the City of Hopewell that details responsibilities among jurisdictions for the mobile overdose response project. Staff said Prince George is the fiscal agent for the grant award. The board had previously awaited notice that the grant was awarded; county staff confirmed that Prince George received the award and that the Virginia Opioid and Vaping Authority provided the funding.
A supervisor moved to approve the cooperative agreement for the mobile overdose response unit; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Staff noted Commonwealth's Attorney Derek Davis had previously presented the item to the board.
What happens next: with the agreement approved the participating jurisdictions will proceed under the terms of the cooperative document with Prince George acting as fiscal agent for grant administration.
