Life St. Joseph of the Pines seeks Harnett County help to expand PACE coverage

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Representatives from Life St. Joseph of the Pines described the PACE (Program of All‑Inclusive Care for the Elderly) model to the Harnett County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 16 and asked the county to help residents who fall outside the program’s current ZIP‑code service area.
A presenter who identified herself as Leika said the program currently serves two Harnett County ZIP codes and that “a lovely family here who is not in our service area … really, really wants to be a part of the PACE program.” Eric Faso, a coworker, told commissioners the program is government‑funded through Medicare and Medicaid and provides medical, therapy and social services plus transportation.
Leika and Faso said Life St. Joseph has petitioned the state to expand its service area and asked county staff to help reach eligible residents and work with the Department of Social Services where appropriate. Commissioners and staff asked for additional information and one commissioner requested that staff bring more details to a future meeting so the board can consider next steps.
No formal county action or funding decision was made at the meeting; staff took materials and agreed to return with further information.
