Shawnee Heights board approves motorcycle-education contract, Skyward agreement and 2026–27 calendar

The Shawnee Heights Board of Education approved multiple consent agenda items, including a renewal of a motorcycle-education agreement, a Skyward services agreement and the draft 2026–2027 school calendar, all by recorded unanimous votes where noted.

Smart Motorcycle Rider Education Agreement: Board members discussed the long-standing agreement under which an outside provider uses a school parking lot and one classroom to deliver motorcycle training similar to driver’s education. The contract cited in the discussion would run Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2026. The transcript notes that the vendor retains 90% of fees and the district receives 10% for hosting. Skyward transition agreement: District staff described negotiation of a revised Skyward agreement for a cumulative transition and three-year terms starting in 2027. The district recommended approval for a revised agreement valued at $23,365 for the terms discussed; the board approved the recommendation (motion by Sarah Sanders; second by Lauren Teismiller; vote recorded 6-0).

2026–2027 school calendar: The board reviewed the draft calendar for the 2026–27 school year; the only substantive change from the prior year was moving a workday to Monday, Dec. 21, instead of Jan. 1, because of the holiday. The board approved the calendar (motion by Sarah Sanders; second by Lauren Teismiller; vote 6-0).

Other consent actions recorded earlier in the meeting included approval of the meeting agenda and approval of minutes from the Feb. 2 meeting, both recorded as unanimous (6-0).
