The Germantown General Government Finance Committee approved awarding a contract for fencing and netting at Kinderberg Field and repairs at Hopstraws Park to Munson Fence Division.
Parks staff described the work as furnishing and installing netting above the existing home plate at Kinderberg to prevent foul balls from reaching playground areas and replacing and repairing outfield fence posts at Hopstraws Park, including burying concrete footings 36 inches deep for frost protection. Staff reported three bids: Munson (low bid) about $28,542; Northway Fence roughly $29,170; Century Fence about $31,505. The work will be paid from the Capital Land and Park Improvements account (40591000592100). Staff estimated a $30,000 budget for the project, so the low bid is about $1,500 under budget.
A trustee asked whether the Kinderberg field is part of an ongoing land swap; staff confirmed the ball field area is not included in any land swap and the committee proceeded. The motion to award the contract to Munson carried by voice vote.
Next step: staff will finalize the contract award and schedule the work under the capital improvements program.
