Utah County commissioners voted Dec. 17 to approve a corrected multi-year agreement with the Utah Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau that adds 2027 and 2028 and applies an automatic 2.75% increase for each added year.
Staff noted a previous dollar error in the draft had been corrected and that the arrangement meets the county's statutory obligation to spend a portion of transient room tax (TRT) revenues on marketing. Commissioners discussed the contract's structure: the agreement provides a definitive dollar amount for the bureau to live within while allowing the county to fund special projects separately if requested.
One commissioner said the arrangement gives the bureau multi-year certainty that will help with staff recruitment and planning. County staff said the contract, as written, fulfills the statutory market-spend requirement and provides accountability and reporting that the commission values.
Commissioners adopted the agreement (item 13) by voice vote.
