At its July 22 meeting, the West Valley City Council approved a series of infrastructure, planning and housing items.
Transportation and pavement work: The council approved Resolution 25-100, a funding amendment to a cooperative agreement with the Utah Department of Transportation that adds $161,000 for the 3500 South safe sidewalk project near 5430 West. It also approved Resolution 25-101 to award Morgan Pavement Maintenance a $450,000 contract for an asphalt pavement preservation treatment that will treat approximately 11 miles of city roadway; the contract will be paid from the Class C road fund and transportation tax.
Parks planning: The council authorized a parks master plan contract with Landmark Design Inc. for $103,640 under Resolution 25-103. That motion passed by majority; Council members Harmon and Whetstone were recorded as voting "No." Council minutes show the motion was otherwise supported and passed by roll call.
Redevelopment and housing authority actions: Following adjournment of the council, the Redevelopment Agency approved Resolution 25-07, authorizing DT Redevelopment to provide land-planning and design services to assist staff in formulating a disposition and development plan for the JRM property near 1200 West and 30 Third South. The Housing Authority then approved Resolution 25-05 (an acceptance, assignment and assumption agreement with the Utah Nonprofit Housing Corporation that allows assumption of ownership of the Jared Allen Campbell Apartments) and Resolution 25-06 (authorizing transfer of properties at 2941 West Amherst Avenue and 4110 Glen Spring Glen Street to Housing Connect). All redevelopment and housing authority items were approved by roll call as recorded in the transcript.
Votes at a glance: Several resolutions passed unanimously by roll call; the parks master plan passed by majority with two recorded 'No' votes. The transcript does not record any failed motions for these agenda items.
What happens next: Staff will proceed to execute awarded contracts and record the grant amendment with UDOT; the housing and redevelopment entities will follow their respective implementation steps as described in staff materials and return any required reports to the agencies.
