Utah County Commission delays several agenda items, names 2025 chair and vice chair and approves constable nominees

The commission voted to continue regular agenda items 7, 8 and 9 to next week, Jan. 15, after members asked for additional time to review materials. "We will continue items, regular agenda items number 7, 8, 9 until next week, January 15," an announcing speaker said, and a subsequent motion to continue carried with an oral vote of "aye." The clerk summarized other scheduling decisions including holding item 1 and item 14 and striking closed items 19 and 20.
Ralph Barnes of human resources said there was no immediate rush on the Voya retirement item and noted timing and funding details remain incomplete: "Because we won't get the first invoice until the end of February," he said, supporting the commission's decision to table that item for further fine tuning.
On leadership, the commission moved to nominate Commissioner Gordon as chair for 2025 and Commissioner Beltran as vice chair. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The panel also approved the slate of county constable nominees (agenda item 17). Speaker 4, who served on the nominating committee, thanked committee members including Ben Vannoy from the attorney's office and a staff member named Eileen for their work before moving to approve the list; the motion was seconded and passed.
The chair opened the floor to public comment; seeing none, the commission entered a closed session to continue business.
