DuPage committee approves special‑event permit for 2026 Presidents Cup at Medina Country Club

The DuPage County Development Committee on Feb. 17 approved a special‑event permit allowing PGA Enterprises LLC to hold the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medina Country Club Sept. 22–27, 2026. The committee took a voice vote after staff described extensive planning and multi‑agency coordination.

Committee members and event representatives described the tournament as a major opportunity for the county. An unidentified committee member said, “I just wanted to express my happiness … thank you to PGA for choosing Medina Country Club and DuPage County. We are very excited for this.” An event organizer added that invitations have been sent to living presidents but “we have not received any RCPs just yet.”

Staff said security planning has been under way for more than a year and involves local, state and federal public‑safety partners. Detailed security arrangements were deferred to the county’s security experts and public‑safety partners; staff advised members that some aspects should be handled offline with security leads. A staff member noted a budget transfer had been made to fund a temporary security coordinator to support the event.

Organizers described an operations timeline that begins April 6, when crews will begin building the operations compound and venues, and runs through tournament week. They said suites remain available and that the event expects international guests. Committee members asked about cost and logistical details; staff committed to follow up with specifics where needed.

The committee voted to approve the special‑event action after discussion. The decision allows event permitting and local coordination to proceed; staff and organizers said further operational details and security plans will be finalized in follow‑up conversations.
