Enterprise honors Parks & Recreation, recognizes Toys for Tots and approves local event permits

The Enterprise City Council used part of Tuesday’s meeting to recognize community programs and to approve routine event permits.
James Bonnet of the Toys for Tots Foundation reported the Wiregrass chapter collected 2,875 toys distributed to 807 children across 345 families and presented a certificate to the police department in appreciation of local support.
Mayor and council members announced that the Enterprise Recreation and Aquatic Center was named outstanding facility of the year at the 2025 Alabama Recreation and Parks Association conference and that Blake Moore, director of community service and recreation, was named professional of the year. The mayor said the facility drew more than 30,000 visitors in its first year and highlighted local uses ranging from youth sports to senior fitness.
Aaron Grantham, director of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, asked for street closures to support the World Small St. Patrick’s Day Parade and accompanying Half‑Pint 0.5K on March 14; council approved the permit and a rain date of March 21. Linda Page, president of the Enterprise Oscar Club, requested approval for the club’s ninth annual Day of Service; council approved the request and discussed borrowing safety vests for volunteers.
Council members praised staff and community volunteers and congratulated the parks and recreation team on statewide recognition. No formal policy changes resulted from the recognitions; event permits were approved by motion.
