Council approves irrigation well, police vehicles, wastewater design and sets hearing for Enterprise Metals

The Enterprise City Council on Tuesday approved multiple procurement items and scheduled a public hearing for a temporary business license for a metal recycling business at 930 Bellwood Road.
Council members voted to award the base bid for a new irrigation well at the Enterprise Multipurpose Recreational Complex to Donald Smith Company, Inc. for $579,378. Staff said redesign work with Poly Engineering and use of previously purchased materials reduced the project from earlier estimates (initial bid packages had totaled roughly $862,000 last year) and kept the work within the council’s budget.
The council also approved the purchase of nine Dodge Durango vehicles (eight police pursuit vehicles and one Dodge Durango GT Plus) from Mitchell Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for $367,160; staff said the request was budgeted and compliant bids were received.
On wastewater infrastructure, the council authorized the mayor to execute task order number 3 with Ardura Incorporated for engineering and technical services associated with the College Street Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion, not to exceed $350,000, for a 30% design to assess capacity, permitting and future build‑out needs. Staff reported the plant currently handles roughly 700,000–800,000 gallons per day and that hydraulic limits suggest pushing near 1,000,000 gallons per day would be the practical capacity; the plant is nominally a 1,200,000‑gallon facility.
The council approved a budgeted purchase of robotic scrubbers and sweepers for parks and recreation from Enterprise Janitorial and Paper through a purchasing cooperative at a total cost of $84,919. Staff described run times, coverage rates and safety sensors during the presentation and said the equipment will improve cleaning efficiency at the recreation complex.
The council voted to seek bids for a 2025 TAP sidewalk project along Bellwood Avenue (TAPUCDashTA25923) and set a public hearing for 6 p.m. March 3, 2026, to consider issuing a temporary business license for Enterprise Metals and Recycling at 930 Bellwood Road. The hearing is informationally noticed; staff said substantive review will occur at that public hearing.
All actions were passed by voice vote in the meeting as announced by the chair.
