The Benton County Ditch Authority reviewed bids for maintenance of Ditches 9 and 14 and awarded the work to Cars Tree Service, the lowest bidder. The board approved a combined total based on the quoted not-to-exceed amounts: $6,004.60 for Ditch 9 and $9,488 for Ditch 14.
Ditch staff said they had obtained references and noted Cars Tree Service had performed related work in other counties; a representative from Nutrien Solutions provided a favorable reference. Commissioners expressed a desire not to delay repeatedly and approved awarding the combined contract to Cars Tree Service by voice vote.
The authority also discussed the annual special drainage authority meeting and outreach. Staff proposed Foley High School as a venue; tentative dates in August were discussed and staff will confirm school availability, contractor attendance and logistics and return with a final date at the next board meeting. Staff said the county will send postcards to affected landowners, post on the county’s ditch web page and share notices via Facebook to increase turnout.
Next steps: staff will confirm August meeting details with the school and contractor and bring a motion for final date and postcards at the next meeting.
