The Benton County Board approved contracting with Local Gov Staffing Solutions to conduct an executive search for the county engineer.
Susan presented her review of four recruiting firms and recommended Laurie at Local Gov Staffing Solutions based on government recruiting experience and a flat fee of $22,500, which she said compared favorably to percentage-based fees quoted by other firms. Susan said the vendor proposed a 6–8 week schedule to post the job, screen applicants, present candidates and complete reference and background checks, and she noted a 60-day placement guarantee for non-performance reasons.
A motion to hire Local Gov Staffing Solutions was made and seconded; the board approved the engagement by voice vote. Commissioners discussed interview-panel composition and said county staff and a district MnDOT engineer would participate in candidate interviews as in past recruitments.
Next steps: Local Gov Staffing Solutions will begin targeted outreach and position posting; county staff will schedule review and interview panels when candidates are presented.
