Keith County partners with NACO for student art contest and County Government Month events

Keith County will host a student art contest for kindergarten through 12th grade to celebrate County Government Month in April, county staff announced Feb. 11.
Candace Meredith, identified as a deputy director, described the plan: local schools and businesses will be asked to distribute flyers, submissions can be dropped off at the courthouse or mailed to a county contact, and the NACO board will judge entries on April 23. An April 25 meet-and-greet will invite elected and appointed officials to present awards and meet participating students and families. "We're looking at a student art contest to celebrate my county, my community in the spirit of county government month," Meredith said.
The county approved using the Keith County logo on event materials and staff said they will coordinate with local schools, the chamber and organizations such as KCAD to circulate flyers and display winners. Eagle Communications plans a people’s-choice component and local businesses will receive postcard reproductions of the top art for display.
No county costs beyond staff time and small awards were identified; Meredith said local partners and grants may provide small prizes and marketing assistance.
