Keith County reorganizes leadership, confirms depositories and appoints highway superintendent

The Keith County Board of Commissioners held a reorganizational session and confirmed leadership and administrative housekeeping that will guide operations into 2026. Commissioners unanimously elected Commissioner Corey Crandall chair and named Dale Schroeder vice chair. Crandall accepted the post and thanked the board.
The board appointed Thomas Wilbur as Keith County Highway Superintendent, license SDash1774ClassB, with the appointment effective Jan. 1, 2026. The motion to appoint Wilbur passed on a roll-call vote.
Commissioners designated the Keith County News as the county’s official newspaper and approved the county website as an additional method of publication for public notices. The board also approved the list of authorized county depositories — including Pinnacle Bank, Adams Bank, Union Bank & Trust and Sandhill State Bank among others — and passed a resolution authorizing Treasurer Rhonda Johnson to deposit county funds with those institutions.
As part of routine administrative updates, the board removed Joan Irvin from certain bank signature cards and added Vice Chair Dale Schroeder to Pinnacle and Adams Bank cards; the changes were approved by roll-call votes. The board approved committee and liaison assignments across a range of regional and county boards and agencies, retaining most incumbent representatives where appropriate.
The actions were framed as routine governance housekeeping ahead of the county’s work plan for the year. No controversial policy changes were adopted in this package of reorganizational items; each motion passed with recorded roll-call votes.
