Keith County board votes to notify 5 Nines of non-renewal, plans RFP for IT services

Keith County commissioners on Nov. 5 authorized sending formal notice to 5 Nines that the county will not renew the master services agreement when it ends July 31, 2026, and directed staff to prepare an RFP for IT services and consider transition and local support requirements.
Chair read a draft notification letter and commissioners discussed whether the letter should explicitly mention an RFP or simply state non-renewal. Several commissioners said the letter should be succinct and simply state the decision not to renew; others emphasized documenting transition expectations, local response times and scope of services (for example, in-person IT support within a specified geographic radius).
A motion to send the notice and proceed with drafting an RFP passed unanimously on roll call. Staff will prepare termination/non-renewal notice on letterhead, circulate it for the chair's signature, and include a scope of work for the forthcoming RFP. Commissioners discussed allowing an adequate transition period and ensuring the new scope includes an IT representative capable of hands-on work and video system support.
