Alice council approves routine items, tables fee changes and advances infrastructure applications
Summary
At its Feb. 17 meeting, the City of Alice council approved minutes and routine consent items, adopted several ordinances including a rezoning and a subdivision amendment, tabled a fee-schedule update, and authorized submission of an application to the Texas Water Development Board for wastewater plant upgrades.
The City of Alice council convened Feb. 17 and approved routine consent items including the Jan. 20, 2026 minutes by voice vote.
The council also recognized Black History Month decorations and heard no public comments during the allotted public-comment period. A packet of consent items was enacted in a single motion, and members voiced unanimous approval without recorded roll-call tallies.
Separately, the council moved to table agenda item 5.5 — proposed changes to the city—ee schedule covering items such as driving-range simulator fees, private-hauler annual fees and industrial/commercial liquid waste rates — after staff requested more time to finalize details. The motion to table was made and seconded and passed by voice vote.
The meeting closed out routine business before moving to substantive agenda items, including several ordinance votes and an authorization to pursue state funding for a wastewater upgrade project. The council recessed for an executive session on economic development and, upon return, authorized the city manager to enter negotiations related to a prospective new business.
