Pine County commissioners voted to award the contract for the 46 Bridge in Sturgeon Lake to Redstone Construction for $2,020,441.95 after a competitive bidding process.
County public works staff told the board three favorable bids were received and recommended Redstone because it was 3.8% under estimate and reported sufficient crew availability. The contractor plans to begin within two weeks and complete in time to meet state water restrictions that require the project to be out of the water by April 15; staff said they expect to finish related work in early June if weather cooperates.
Public works also reported the county received $866,946.50 from MnDOT toward the project and asked the board to approve the MnDOT agency agreement and an associated resolution. Commissioners approved the agreement and resolution by roll call.
Board members and staff discussed traffic and school bus routing, advance signage, and coordination with the school district for bus movements near the bridge site.
The motions to award the contract and to accept the MnDOT funds passed by roll call. County staff said they will post signage, coordinate with schools, and monitor schedule constraints caused by seasonal water restrictions.
