The Hudsonville City Commission voted on Nov. 11 to approve Temporary Traffic Control Order 25-04, authorizing full closures of Cherry Avenue (from Allen to Harvey), Harvey Street (from Cherry to School) and School Avenue (from Harvey to Allen) on Nov. 20 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The motion was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Emergency Management and city staff have already been working on the parade traffic plan. The city’s emergency-management representative noted the team had reviewed the route and planned traffic controls, and staff said they are lining up county volunteers and coordinating manual traffic-light operation where needed. Commissioners discussed parade logistics and timing; one commissioner asked for a voice count and the mayor confirmed the closure was approved.
City Manager Tyler reported commissioners will participate in the parade and the administration is coordinating candy distribution and float placement to keep volunteers and children safe along the route. The commission encouraged public participation and reminded residents that the parade and associated downtown lighting will be a key community event.
