Washington County supervisors approve vacation of section of alley between Cambridge and Oxford

The Washington County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Monday to approve a petition to vacate a section of a 16-foot alley between Cambridge Avenue and Oxford Avenue to permit boundary-line adjustments among adjoining owners.
A representative for the petitioners explained the alley segment is unimproved and acts as a divider; the requested vacation would allow two or more parcels to be recombined and better follow a small stream that crosses the properties. The representative showed a plat to supervisors and told them the southern and northern portions of the alley would remain because other owners were not seeking changes.
Commissioner 16, who inspected the property, said the parcel was mostly a mowed yard with trees and runs down to a creek, and moved that the board approve the resolution as presented. The motion was seconded and the measure carried by an affirmative vote from all members (7–0).
What the action does: The board’s vote authorizes abandoning the specified section of the alley so the petitioners may proceed with the boundary adjustment as shown on the final plat; staff noted the remaining portions of the alley would remain for other property owners.
