Board honors Kathy Lowe on retirement; approves naming animal shelter for Philip E. McCall

Washington County supervisors read a resolution honoring Catherine L. "Kathy" Lowe for her 12 years of service as executive director of the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator and thanked her for leadership in local entrepreneurship programs.
Following the resolution reading, the board also considered and approved a recommendation to name the county—s animal shelter the Philip E. McCall Animal Shelter in recognition of Mr. McCall—s long service to the county and advocacy for agriculture and animal issues. Mr. McCall accepted the recognition, noting his years of service and expressing appreciation.
Both the retirement recognition and the animal-shelter naming were adopted with unanimous support during the meeting.
