Treasurer/Administrator Mike Parker told the board that the state budget provided a 1.5% bonus for state-supported positions and proposed the county use DMV commission funds to ensure local employees receive an equitable supplement. "Basically, what I propose to do is to give you $280,000 out of DMV commission funds, combine that with the money that we're going to get from the state because the state's paying 100% of the 1 and a half percent for the state support positions," Parker said, adding that the county would provide each employee "at least $1,000 or 1 and a half percent, whichever is greater."
Staff presented a recommended motion to appropriate the funds to the treasurer's DMV commission line item, complete a $280,000 budget transfer into employee compensation, and adopt the resolution authorizing the bonus. Supervisors praised the proposal as a morale booster and approved the package in a single motion.
The board recorded the appropriation and authorized county staff to implement the transfers and prepare payroll adjustments ahead of the July payment cycle.
