"This is using the money as we should be using it," one supervisor said during discussion. Staff clarified the funds do not come from general county revenues but from opioid settlement monies.
Board members also discussed potential future settlements. One supervisor noted a mailing describing Purdue Pharma’s thirteenth amended bankruptcy plan with a hearing scheduled next week in New York and suggested additional funds could become available depending on the court outcome. The board approved the Highlands allocation 5‑0.
