The Vermont House read House Concurrent Resolution HCR 197 on Feb. 17, congratulating the YMCA on its anniversary and directing the secretary of state to send copies to the YMCA of Greater Burlington and the Meeting Waters YMCA.
Members offered personal testimony supporting the resolution. The member from Burlington said the YMCA has been a fixture in the community since 1866, described relying on the Y’s childcare and after-school programs, and recalled registering overnight to secure childcare slots. The member from Colchester described 9 years of work at the YMCA and praised its role as a community convener and provider of opportunity.
The House recognized YMCA staff and volunteers seated in the gallery and members encouraged colleagues to join in congratulating the organization.
