Mike, San Juan County's public health director, presented an interagency memorandum of understanding with Root for Kids to facilitate client referrals and to coordinate WIC-related protections for client data.
"The purpose of this MOU is just to create a mutually beneficial relationship between public health and Root for Kids so that we can link clients to services that one another provides," Mike said.
Commissioners asked whether WIC or a mobile WIC unit would resume local services; Mike said reestablishing WIC presence was underway as new staff completed training and that the agreement is a short-term arrangement that ends May 31 with the expectation of a subsequent agreement if needed. Commissioners approved the MOU for the initial term and asked staff to monitor service resumption and report back.
