Senator Beard described the panel's membership and scope and said the study will help Georgia prepare if advanced nuclear projects or small modular reactors materialize. During the floor discussion committee members successfully offered a friendly amendment to add two representatives from the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) and another amendment to increase the total membership from 12 to 14. The amendment passed unanimously and the substitute resolution passed the committee without opposition.
The resolution now proceeds as the committee's substitute to the Senate Rules process.
