Parks & Recreation Director Wendy Miller explained the changes: seasonal equipment (canoes, snowshoes, ice skates) will be listed under one simplified rental fee ($10), the pool rental flat fee was retained for operational consistency, and the department will discontinue routine swimsuit and goggle rentals to improve sanitation and desk flow (goggles will be available during lessons and local businesses were asked to carry swim supplies).
Miller said the department moved senior eligibility from 55 to 65 and is encouraging annual pass purchases (new incentives and a $200 annual pass are part of the update), while preserving a scholarship program for qualifying residents. The assembly asked clarifying questions about equipment availability and rental pricing; Miller answered that some previous pass options (3‑ and 6‑month) were removed to encourage annual purchases and that swim team rentals will remain available for tournaments.
The resolution passed on the consent calendar with a unanimous vote.
