Trustees reject preliminary layoff resolutions as presented; direct staff to add administrators to RIF lists

On Feb. 12 the Cypress School District Board of Trustees considered three agenda items (11.1–11.3) moved up in the order of business. The board adopted Resolution No. 25/26‑8 establishing tie‑breaker criteria for certificated seniority (item 11.1). When trustees took up preliminary resolutions to reduce particular certificated services (11.2) and classified services (11.3), extended debate followed on whether to include district administrative positions on the lists. After discussion, the motion to adopt each resolution as presented failed in recorded roll calls. The board then directed staff and the district attorney to add certificated and classified administrators (principals and district administrators, excluding the superintendent under contract) to the draft resolutions and post amended versions for a special meeting before the March 15 notice deadline.
