Cypress School District trustees hear midcycle LCAP update, ask for more granular data

Tandy Taylor, executive director of educational services, briefed the Cypress School District Board of Trustees on the district’s LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) mid‑cycle update on Feb. 12. Taylor said the LCAP is in the middle of its three‑year cycle and explained the plan’s three goals: high‑quality instruction; home‑community connection; and safe, engaging learning environments. She reported classroom assessment gains — English language arts moved from 77.1% to 83.1% on the STAR assessment and math from 77.7% to 83.1% — and described use of the SABERS behavior assessment and tiered interventions. Taylor also summarized stakeholder engagement: 187 educational partners and more than 2,300 families in district records took part in outreach, and the district has a student population of just over 3,000.
