Mayor Allen used the Jan. 12 council meeting to present the Mayor's Award for Excellence to winners across the wards for outstanding 2025 holiday lighting displays and to acknowledge Shop and Save for its donations to the municipality's food collection efforts.
Mayor Allen read award citations and named winners by ward and address. One award recipient briefly thanked the council, saying, "I just really appreciate it." The mayor also thanked judges and residents who nominated houses.
Manager Miss Denny announced that the historical society, in collaboration with the community foundation, commissioned four artists to create original Bethel Park–themed artwork to mark America's 250th anniversary; the artworks will be released Feb. 7 with a ceremony at 11 a.m. She also reminded residents to move cars off streets when winter storms occur to allow plow trucks to access roads.
No council action, funding requests or votes were associated with these recognitions and announcements during the meeting.
