"An explosion went off... It sounded like a bomb," McGregor said, describing his experience walking his dog and the community response: neighbors out in the street, an elderly neighbor hiding in her bathroom, and a young family holding a frightened infant. He said police responded but that the initial officer appeared indifferent and did not provide a clear follow-up.
McGregor also raised ongoing quality-of-life and safety concerns at Allen Park, saying dirt‑bike and e‑bike activity creates dust and damages park surfaces, and that prior complaints have not led to lasting changes. Council members acknowledged his comments and noted the police chief and public works director were present and that staff would follow up on enforcement and potential improvements.
The council thanked McGregor for raising the concerns and said staff would return with potential improvements and suggestions.
