The Town of Ross council adopted Resolution 24‑29 approving design review and a variance for work at 118 Winding Way that includes a 310‑square‑foot patio expansion and two stone retaining walls (one measuring up to 10 feet). The variance was required because a portion of the proposed retaining wall exceeded the six‑foot height limit and a narrow strip of the patio is within the side‑yard setback.
Applicant representative Ron Sutton said the ADU and steep site topography require the retaining wall to tie terraces to the house; he said only a small area (approximately a 3‑by‑13 feet strip, about 34 sq ft) is in the setback and that neighboring property owners reviewed story poles and indicated they were comfortable with the proposal.
Council members asked clarifying questions about dimensions. Council member (speaker 2) moved to adopt Resolution 24‑29 approving the project subject to standard conditions; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll‑call vote recorded as 4 ayes.
