Klamath County commissioners authorized an MOU with the Klamath Watershed Partnership on Feb. 17 that would obligate $494,000 in ARPA funds for emergency levy and pump‑station repairs and allow the county to proceed with bidding and construction.
Jeremy, a public works representative, told the board the contractor cost estimate at time of writing was $367,000; the remaining roughly $127,000 would be reimbursed to the county by Klamath Watershed Partnership. He said the MOU includes about $29,000 in contingency for change orders or similar adjustments and that staff hoped to send a construction contract to the business meeting next Tuesday so work could begin the following week.
Commissioner Minty moved to authorize the public works director to sign the MOU so the county can proceed. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board’s action authorizes the county to obligate ARPA funds to the project; the MOU commits Klamath Watershed Partnership to reimbursing the county for amounts above the budgeted estimate. Staff said they will return to the business meeting with the contract for final approval.
