The Safety & Licenses committee on Feb. 17 voted to continue consideration of a Class B liquor-license transfer for Jinja Asian Bistro at 736 Park Avenue because required paperwork was not submitted.
Committee members debated whether a portal-uploaded tax-status letter from the transferee satisfied the requirement. Solicitor advised the council that, under the cited statute for transfers, the transferor must provide a certificate of good standing from the tax administrator. After that legal clarification the committee took a roll-call vote to continue the matter so the correct certificate can be produced.
The council recorded a roll call on the continuance motion; the majority voted yes and one member voted no. Committee members asked staff to clarify exactly which tax certificate must be uploaded and to ensure language-access support for the applicant if needed.
