Finance update: commission to move forward with Fair Housing Partnership contract; strategic plan to be finalized in March

On Feb. 2 the commission's finance lead reported the committee has held discussions with the budget analyst and intends to move forward with a contract with the Fair Housing Partnership of Greater Pittsburgh using Community Development Block Grant funding.
The finance speaker said the commission is finishing a strategic‑planning contract with the Lehi Mittrauer group and is assessing whether an RFP will be needed for certain solicitor contracts. Commissioners were invited to participate in a final visioning session to review priorities and stagger implementation; staff expected to present a draft strategic plan at the March meeting for commissioner review and possible approval.
On personnel matters, the commission discussed a citywide hiring freeze. Rachel Shepherd said any hiring would require consultation with Chief of Staff Dan Gilman to establish necessity and funding. She noted the commission currently has $5,000 budgeted for an intern and plans to post that position if allowed under freeze rules.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn. An unidentified commissioner moved, an unidentified speaker seconded, several commissioners said "aye," and chair Genevieve declared the meeting adjourned.
