Council honors outgoing planning commissioners, swears in two new police officers

At its Feb. 17 meeting, the Saratoga Springs City Council recognized outgoing planning commissioners Charlie Karn and Jack Mangum for their service and presented commemorative plaques.
Later in the meeting the council held an oath and badge‑pinning ceremony for two police officers. Chief Andrew Burton introduced Officers Colin Larson and Alvaro Nicolia, saying Nicolia is a one‑year law‑enforcement veteran who speaks Spanish and Tagalog and that Larson is a second‑generation officer whose father is a retired officer turned paramedic. Mayor Christopher Karn administered the oath of office and city staff presented certificates of commission.
Council and staff thanked the departing commissioners and welcomed the newly sworn officers.
