The city manager estimated the replacement project would likely cost between $90,000 and $120,000 and would require a public bidding process that could take roughly 60 days, which may push procurement into the next fiscal year.
Alderman Jones moved for authorization and Alderman Baron seconded the motion. The board completed a roll-call vote recorded by the clerk with 7 ayes and 0 nays, and the motion passed.
City staff said they will prepare specifications, report back with cost estimates, and proceed with the bid process. Officials framed the authorization as preemptive planning to avoid an emergency winter failure rather than immediate capital spending.
