The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development announced a California-led trade mission to the Rebuild Ukraine trade fair in Warsaw the week of Nov. 11–15, offering subsidized participation for small businesses under the State Trade Expansion Program.
Tricia Utterback, trade and invest representative for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India at the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, said the mission will include exhibition space under a California booth, prearranged one-to-one business meetings and briefing sessions with U.S. federal partners. “This is a program that is subsidized for California small businesses through the state trade expansion program,” Utterback said.
Organizers described a one-week delegation that pairs two days at the Rebuild Ukraine trade fair with additional regional programming in Poland, including company site visits, matchmaking events and briefings by the U.S. Commercial Service in Warsaw. Karolina Kaptur, senior manager at AHP International in Warsaw, said California is coordinating with delegations from Washington and North Carolina to form a combined U.S. presence expected to include about 20 American companies.
The STEP-subsidized fee for California small businesses is $3,500, Utterback said; the fee does not cover travel, lodging or most meals. Utterback added that larger or medium-size companies may join the delegation but will not receive the same subsidy. Interested companies should apply through the STEP portal; Utterback said she would post the application link in the webinar chat and follow up by email.
GoBiz and AHP International said the mission is intended to give U.S. firms visibility at a targeted reconstruction-focused event and to facilitate meetings with Ukrainian municipal representatives and private-sector partners. The webinar was recorded and GoBiz said it will distribute the recording and a post-show report to registrants.
Next steps: companies interested in joining the mission were invited to contact GoBiz via the STEP portal for application details and deadlines.
