Interim Village Manager Mr. Lemmon told the council on June 10 that staff expect to meet with designers and potential contractors to advance a new concession stand at Memorial Field with the goal of designing, bidding and constructing the facility by the end of the year. He said parkour equipment is on order and the field is accessible via a gate while finishing work (striping, cleanup) remains.
Mr. Lemmon said several streets — Simmons, Jackson, Adams, Carrie, McGee and Chester — are under design and slated for construction in 2025; Chamberlain work on curbs and sidewalks is finishing and the final surface should be in place by Sept. 1, barring utility delays. He cautioned that last‑minute utility work (Waterworks, Duke Energy) can delay bids and schedules.
The mayor and council also encouraged residents to respond to a virtual open house for the 40‑mile Mill Creek Triangle Trail feasibility study, which was extended to collect more input from Lincoln Heights. The manager advised residents to use the QR code on the village website to review connection maps.
Why it matters: The concession stand, new park equipment and sidewalks are tangible improvements for local recreation and can increase use of memorial field and walking routes; street construction schedules will affect travel and utility work in 2025.
Next steps: Staff will continue design and bid processes for the concession stand, coordinate with utilities on Chamberlain and Simmons, and publish project scheduling updates on the village website and future council packets.
