The Village of Lincoln Heights council approved a recommendation from its Economic Development Committee on Sept. 9 to identify every parcel owned by the village with visible markers so residents and potential buyers can recognize village property. Councilwoman Laverne Mitchell moved the measure; it was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Council members described low-cost options (stakes with numbered tags or simple signs) and said a list of identified parcels will be available in the municipal lobby and on the CRA website. Staff said people interested in purchasing village parcels must submit an application under the Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) process and follow CRA requirements (including build-to conditions and timing). Council discussed timing, with public works expected to begin marking property within the month and a follow-up update to be provided by Mr. Lemon (public works director) when he returns.
A resident, Alexis Patton, raised a question about buying a specific parcel (959 Congress Avenue); staff advised her to submit a written proposal and said the manager will follow up prior to the next regular meeting.
