Lincoln Heights council holds first readings to sell two village properties

The clerk recorded a roll-call vote with Councilwoman Phyllis Baber, Councilwoman Nona Calhoununa, Councilwoman Karen Hingston, Vice Mayor Linda Charles Jeter and Mayor Ruby Kinsey Mumphrey voting yes; two members were absent. The clerk repeated the process for Resolution 2025R15, described as “Resolution authorizing the sale of certain real estate, that being 1178 Steffen Avenue,” and the council again recorded five votes in favor with two absent.
Both items were taken as first readings only. Council members did not discuss sale terms, buyers or prices on the record during the Feb. 24 meeting; the clerk said the items are in the council packet and that council will take further action at a later meeting. The clerk also noted the village has a 30-day response window for certain licensing items and that routine procedural steps remain for property sales.
Next steps: both resolutions will return for subsequent readings or final action at a later council meeting where the council may consider specific sale terms and any required public-notice steps.
