During a Q&A at Delta Days, residents asked about plans for Gleeson Park and the former Gilroy Stadium. City representatives said Gleeson Park (in District 5) has seen cleanup, new lighting and repaved walking paths in the last year. "If you haven't been by there in the last year, you can see that the grass is cut, that it's cleaned up," a city speaker said.
City staff said they are collaborating with Indiana University Northwest to determine the best future uses for park acreage and that soil testing is needed before major work at Gilroy Stadium can proceed. The city also noted ongoing improvements to the park’s pavilion and the golf-house tenant, which is undergoing renovation now.
Council members emphasized a deliberate approach to avoid decisions that would create long-term fiscal burdens, and said the administration is seeking options that are physically and financially sustainable.
No formal commitment to a specific redevelopment plan for Gilroy Stadium was made; further analysis and testing will guide next steps.
