Residents urge community-building events and road-visibility study during Logan public comments

During the public-comment portion of the Feb. 17 Logan City Council meeting, several residents urged actions to boost community connections and roadway safety.
Gail Hansen (Logan) summarized research on social isolation and said she and friends are organizing a community fair on Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; she said 18 groups or tables had already agreed to participate and invited the council and residents to attend. The council asked for a flyer to be shared and confirmed the event location as Ruler Hall.
Linda Johnson (Logan) praised the city’s public-comment opportunities and urged more funding for recreation. She also described difficulty seeing road striping after a recent storm, advocated studying more reflective pavement striping on higher-traffic streets, and suggested extra solar lighting on residential roads and sidewalks (particularly Mountain Road) to improve visibility and reduce collisions with deer.
Council members and staff acknowledged the request: council asked staff to pass the suggestion to Public Works and noted many affected roads are state-owned, which could limit city authority. The mayor and staff said they would pass the request to the appropriate department for study.
The public-comment period also included a request for a moment of silence for a local loss and a short note urging attention to state legislative activity; council accommodated those remarks during the period.
