Streetscape plan stays on track for next construction season; county designs expected soon

Scott Davis reported that county design work on the Crossroads streetscape should be available at the next meeting and said the project timeline still targets construction in the spring–summer construction season. He explained that the county will finish design, scope the work and then put the project out for bids later this year; depending on the final scope, contractors often complete segmented sections so that individual lots or curb cuts may be closed for a few days to a week while repaving and concrete curing occur.
Davis told members that contractors typically provide schedules when bidding closes and that the district and county will work to limit disruption on merchants’ busiest days. Members pressed staff on how businesses would access lots during short closures; staff said the county and contractor would attempt to provide alternate access where feasible but some lots that have a single entrance may be inaccessible for short periods.
Lisa Clancy, identified in discussion as the county councilwoman who highlighted the project, has staff looking into the project, the presenter said. Members were told they should expect a clearer construction and bidding timeline by fall, after design completion and the county’s formal bid process.
