MD Anderson Planetarium offers 'Understanding Dark Matter' shows after projector upgrade

The MD Anderson Planetarium at the University of Memphis Lambeth campus resumed public programming after a projector upgrade, with a featured show titled 'Understanding Dark Matter' scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. and a Friday show on Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m., the planetarium coordinator said.
The coordinator described dark matter as the unseen component scientists infer holds galaxies together and said the program covers how researchers detect it and the evidence for its role. She said features last about 30 minutes with a short related trailer and a segment about the night sky; children's shows are scheduled monthly and school field trips are supported.
Admission requires no ticket; the door opens 15 minutes before the show. The coordinator directed viewers to the university website and the planetarium’s Facebook page for schedules and additional programming information. She encouraged families and schools to attend and said new projector content allows more frequent rotation of shows.
The broadcast did not report admission fees and the coordinator emphasized shows are accessible and updated regularly after the technical upgrade.
