Local wellness center to host free Community Eats meal Feb. 22, organizers say

Demarco Clay and Ambrell Phelps, owners of Extraordinary Wellness, said they will hold a Community Eats event on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2:00 p.m. at 438 East Main Street to provide food, clothing and a safe space for people in Jackson.

The owners described Extraordinary Wellness as “a center of transformation and resources unlike a gym,” saying the center’s approach addresses mental, spiritual and physical wellness in addition to fitness. They said the center currently supports community members using its own funds and aims to connect attendees to broader local services.

Phelps said the event is open to anyone who shows up: “Just show up,” she said, adding that the center will distribute meals and hygiene items to mothers, children, grandparents and people experiencing housing instability.
