Walker resident urges action after cars block driveways and sit near a fire hydrant on Ferndale

At the start of the Feb. 18 Walker Planning Commission meeting, Dorothy Pater of 1483 Ferndale raised a public-safety concern about vehicles parking on both sides of Ferndale.
Pater said nearby cars frequently park so close to driveways that residents cannot back out and that some vehicles park "way too close to [a] fire hydrant," presenting an emergency-access risk. "If we need to have an ambulance or anything, what would happen?" she asked the commission.
The chair thanked Pater and said city staff would communicate the concern to their colleagues for follow-up. The meeting record does not show the commission taking formal action or directing a specific enforcement or engineering follow-up during the hearing.
