We have to index every document that we record," she said, stressing that attorneys, paralegals and surveyors rely on correct indexing.
Watson described her background as a records specialist in Buncombe County public‑safety communications and said that although she has not worked directly in the register’s office, she brings experience with records, courts and public interactions. She emphasized slowing down processes when citizens need extra help navigating records after storms or other disruptions.
Both candidates said they track continuing legal changes and attend required training; Moore noted ongoing workshops and state guidance. The forum ended with closing remarks and a reminder to voters that early voting begins Thursday and the primary is March 3.
