Highwood council adopts 2026 zoning map; residential sign bids deferred

Highwood — The City of Highwood City Council formally adopted the city's 2026 zoning map at its Feb. 17 meeting, accepting changes made during 2025 and incorporating eight parcels listed on the agenda.
A city staff member said the eight parcels had already been voted on at prior council meetings and the 2026 map simply formalizes those previously approved changes. The council moved to accept the updated zoning map, members voted in favor by voice vote and the motion carried.
During routine business the council reviewed and approved bills dated Feb. 17, 2026, and approved the treasurer's report for the period ending Dec. 31, 2025. A staff update noted the city's salt supply is nearly full ahead of a forecast March storm.
Bids for the residential street sign project were not ready at the time of the meeting and were set aside for future consideration. The council confirmed there would be no executive session and adjourned following the remaining agenda items.
No public comment was received during the public-input portion of the meeting.
