Summit County committees approved a resolution authorizing the executive to enter an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation and to appropriate funds to relocate a sanitary sewer line required by bridge deck repairs on State Route 91 in Monroe Falls (Council District 3). The measure was read into the record and declared an emergency.
Michael Venet of the Department of Sanitary Sewer Services said the project was previously the subject of a cooperative agreement and that the work is now a repair rather than a replacement. He told the committee the bridge repair is scheduled for June 2026 and that the bridge will be closed for approximately 45 days; the county must relocate or replace the sanitary sewer as part of the work.
A motion to approve the resolution (mover: Mr. Lacotte) passed after committee members voted 'aye.'
The county will coordinate with ODOT on the schedule and appropriations; staff did not provide detailed cost estimates during the meeting. Next procedural steps are contract finalization and scheduling the sewer relocation work to align with ODOT’s bridge repair timeline.
