Commissioners remove Carpenter as county appointee to Housing and Homeless Coalition after complaint; prosecutor opened inquiry

The Butler County Board of Commissioners voted on Feb. 3 to remove Commissioner Carpenter as the county appointee to the Housing and Homeless Coalition after a verbal complaint from members of that coalition was presented to the Butler County Prosecutor.

Commissioner Rogers moved to remove Commissioner Carpenter as the county appointee; the motion was seconded and the Board called the roll. Commissioner Dixon and Commissioner Rogers recorded affirmative votes. The Board instructed staff to draft a resolution documenting the action for the meeting record.

Commissioner Dixon noted for the record that the decision follows advice from the Butler County Prosecutor. �This is something that the Butler County prosecutor has asked us to take this step,� Dixon said, adding that the prosecutor is acting in his role as the Board�s legal adviser and that the matter will be sorted through the prosecutor�s investigative process.

The resolution will be prepared and entered into the clerk�s record as directed by the Board. No additional details of the complaint were read into the record during the meeting, and the transcript shows the prosecutor has opened an inquiry; the complaint�s specific allegations and any further process remain unresolved at this meeting.
